Every
year $1,500 is allocated to each CDA chapter for youth
projects and events. Every chapter can also use up
to 5% of its chapter banquet proceeds for local projects,
not to exceed $3,000. CDA has also committed $25,000
per year toward management of the CAÑADA de los Osos
Ecological Reserve and running the youth education
program on the reserve. The remaining CDA funds are
used for projects throughout the state. CDA has set
guidelines to spend approximately 40% of project funds
on habitat restoration or improvement projects, 25%
on land acquisition and conservation easements, 25%
on biological studies, 5% on equipment and supplies,
and 5% for public education and youth projects. Actual
spending is decided by the Project Committee and Board
of Directors, and is adjusted according to project
needs and merits from year to year.
