California Deer Association Receives Record Number of State Fundraising Big Game Tags

November 23, 2009

Click to view flierThe results are out from the California Department of Fish and Game and CDA received eight total big game fundraising tags for the 2010/2011 hunting season.  This is half of all available tags from the state and twice as many as CDA received for the 2009/2010 season!  These tags are an important income source for the department.  Each year, Department of Fish and Game solicits applications from qualified nonprofit conservation organizations to auction or sell big game hunting license tags (bighorn sheep, deer, elk, and pronghorn antelope) to raise funds for programs and projects benefiting these big game species. By law, all revenue from sales of fund-raising tags is used in the Departments respective species management program.  The tags and banquet dates are as follows;

Redding Chapter - 1 Golden Opportunity Deer Tag, January 9th, 2010
North Valley Chapter (banquet held in Colusa) - 1 Pronghorn Antelope Tag, February 12th, 2010
Gridley Chapter - 1 Open Zone Deer Tag, February 27th, 2010
Chico Chapter - 1 Golden Opportunity Deer Tag and 1 Pronghorn Antelope Tag, March 20th, 2010
Central Coast Chapter (banquet held in Paso Robles) - 1 Owens Valley Elk Tag, April 10th, 2010
Salinas Valley Chapter - 1 Golden Opportunity Deer Tag
Mount Saint Helena Chapter (banquet held in Calistoga) - 1 Open Zone Deer Tag, April 30th, 2010

The impressive fundraising tag results are an indication of the strong partnership that we have developed with the Department of Fish and Game.  We at CDA appreciate and acknowledge the responsibility of obtaining these great fundraising tags.  For more information, contact the chapter chairmen listed on the website or call Pat Fitzmorris at 916-663-2861.
