A 2,900-acre fire in 2006 on the north
shore of Antelope Lake in Plumas County devastated important
wildlife habitat. Funds from the California Deer Association
were made available to the Plumas National Forest District
to plant Aspen stands in the fire-ravaged area. The October

Cañada de los Osos Ecological
Reserve was awarded a junior deer hunt for auction from the
Department of Fish and Game this year. The hunt was auctioned
at the 2008 San Jose Chapter banquet. CDA president Andy Wood
purchased the hunt, with all proceeds from the hunt going
to habitat projects at the CDLO Reserve. Andy then donated
the hunt to junior hunter Brandon Williams. Fourteen-year-old
Brandon took a nice 3 x 2 buck. CDA wants to thank Andy
Wood for his continued support of youth programs.

The Fourth annual 'Field of Dreams'
event on September 13th was a huge success. Every year the
event keeps growing with more outpouring of support and volunteers.

The Cañada de los Osos Junior
Deer Hunt on September 13th and 14th was the best deer hunt
yet on the Reserve. Five youths successfully took five nice
bucks. Read their stories,
