California Mule Deer Pair

The lists presented here represent only the top ten ranked Blacktail Deer (Odocoileus Hemionus Columbianas), as wells as the top ten ranked Mule Deer (Odocoileus Hemionus) in the categories of Typical and Non Typical for the State of California. Boone & Crockett don't currently recognize a category of Non Typical for Blacktail deer in the State of California, but the California Deer Association's Wildlife Records Committee recognizes this unique category, as many of our state's hunters have taken some spectacular Non Typical Blacktail specimens. Additionally, we will be recognizing records for two additional categories of deer unique to California for our next edition of the Wildlife Record Book, Pacific Fork and Forked Horn.

For a more comprehensive list, plus the photos and stories that go with them you can purchase the California Deer Association California State Wildlife Record Book.
