Start thinking about donations for the next banquet - it is never too early. If you attended the last dinner and would like to donate to the cause, please contact Ronnie Hobbs, 984-3015.
-------------------
If you have not yet attended a meeting, please take the time, at least once, to do so. Your input is just as important as those who attend regularly. You might even have a better idea than the rest.
-------------------
Western Sierra Chapter of the CDA wants you! Please take the time to be involved with your chapter. Even if just for a few hours a year on one of the projects.

US Forest Service

If you are a user of the forest, whether you drive a 2W car/truck, 4W car/SUV/truck, ATV, Dirt Motorcycle or Street Motorcycle; or you camp, fish, hunt, hike, photograph, cut wood, please take time to see what changes are coming about that may affect your use of the forest. This is not just locally, but nationwide. Most of us, of course, are interested only in our local forest, The Stanislaus National Forest. Changes are coming and you may be very disappointed in the final outcome.

Busy Year

Western Sierra Chapter has had their election of officers and the following were elected to one year terms until September 2006: Chairperson - Ronnie Hobbs ; Vice-Chair - Bert Abreo, Treasurer - Jan Colombani; Secretary - Ruth Abreo; Sgt-at-Arms - Larry Allen. Appointments to other committees to be announced at next meeting.
-------------------
Completed Projects to date - Hwy 108 & Hess Ave - prevention of deer crossing highway; Miller Meadow, Faust Cabin Meadow, & Peoria Flat - all are habitat improvements; chainsaw certification; Hunter Safety classes; Wright’s Creek burn - to improve habitat.
Projects still pending - Peoria Flat (this is an ongoing 3 year project).
Possible projects - Sheep Ranch/Mtn. Ranch for habitat improvement with Fish & Game; Femmons Meadow; and other possible ones with Forest Service and/or BLM.

For more information about projects, contact Phil Lefman 962-0522

Women & Kids Day was successful even though the newspaper announcement had the wrong date. Next year’s event should be publicized and therefore, better attended.

-------------------

Wanted - projects

If anyone knows of any state or federal deer habitat project in Tuolumne or Calaveras Counties, please let Phil Lefman, 209-962-0522 or any other Western Sierra Chapter member know.
-------------------
Hunter Safety Classes - for more information and schedule, contact Bobby Klein, 533-5347
-------------------
Thanks to all who took the time to attend any of our meetings and special thanks to the volunteers who come out and help with the projects - you are priceless!

******

No Projects will be scheduled during deer season!
Projects will resume after D5-D6 deer season is over - like November 7 or later.

If you get a phone call to be a volunteer on a project, please come and be one for a few hours. Lunch is provided at conclusion of project. We would sure like to see some new faces. The old faces are getting boring to look at.
